Dr Bart de Nijs

Bart de Nijs holds a University Research Fellowship (URF) from The Royal Society in the Cavendish laboratory. His research focusses on how to best use the tightly focussed and strongly magnified light in small nanogaps to study and induce chemical processes, with as aim to make chemical processes more efficient or previously in-accesible processes. The ultimate goal of the research is to develop stand-alone optical nanophotonic reactors that employ light to perform important chemical processes such as CO2 reduction, photon harvesting, and the breakdown of plastics and bio waste.
